Quad City Wind Ensemble Announces 2016 Winter Concert “Musica Nova”
The 30th season of the Quad City Wind Ensemble continues Sunday, February 28, 2016 with a concert at 3:00 p.m. in Allaert Auditorim located in the Galvin Fine Arts Center, St. Ambrose University, 518 W. Locust St, Davenport, 52803. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and FREE for all students through 12th grade. There will be a reception immediately following the concert with free refreshments and homemade treats.
The QCWE is conducted by Brian L. Hughes, 2015 winner of the American Prize in Wind Band Conducting (school and community division).
This concert is titled, Musica Nova and consists entirely of music written by living composers with no pieces predating 2001. The program will include music by Daniel Montoya, Jared Beau, David Maslanka, Rick Kirby and Julie Giroux. Also included will be the premiere performance of a work by Kenyon Wilson; QCWE was one of the commissioning groups of this memorial of the Chattanooga, Tennessee 2015 shooting tragedy. The concert will be followed by a free reception with refreshments and homemade treats.

The QCWE was founded in 1987 by Dr. Charles B. DCamp of St. Ambrose University, and has become one of the finest adult bands in the nation. In 2012 the QCWE was the Community Division winner of The American Prize in Band/Wind Ensemble Performance.
